  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  7. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
