  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk until fully combined.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Once cool, drizzle caramel sauce over the top of one layer, then place the second layer on top and drizzle more caramel on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of sea salt on top of the caramel.
  • Serve with whipped cream for added indulgence.
