A delicious and hearty casserole combining the flavors of French onion soup with chicken and orzo pasta, topped with turkey bacon for a delightful crunch.

  • 1 pound orzo pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 slices turkey bacon, chopped
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or Gruyere recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions until caramelized.
  3. Add chopped turkey bacon to the skillet and cook until crispy.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked orzo, shredded chicken, caramelized onions, turkey bacon, broth, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish and sprinkle cheese on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
