  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add in the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
